File Download Errors

Question:

How will CMS communicate errors encountered when downloading JSON files from issuer websites?

Answer:

CMS plans to crawl URLs for updated files daily to download and aggregate them. If files are not found at the URLs within the index.JSON (404 error) or are not publicly accessible (403 error, etc.), or if files do not validate (are not in proper JSON format), an error will be generated on our daily report and the Issuer contact provided in the index.JSON URL submission will be emailed. The issuer should correct the error, and CMS will re-crawl the data again during the next day's cycle.

All errors encountered will also be reported daily to the Compliance Enforcement Team.
